What you do is cut out the sole of each shoe first. Then you can either punch holes around the edge, or just poke the crochet hook through the material and make a stitch through each hole. Proceed for the rest of the bootie according to your directions, and you will be fine. You CAN, of course, make your shoes the regular way, and then sew the non-slip material to the sole of the shoes. You can also get paint-on non-slip paint which you apply to the soles of fabric booties. See your hobby store for particulars.
