If i dye my hair darker will it make me look pale?

i wanna dye it dark brown (I already have brown hair but i wanna go fairly dark.) my mom freaks out when i do this sort of thing and she said it will make me look paler. is this true or is she just saying this to talk me out of it? i'm of italian , spanish , german , czech , and native american descent so i am not very light nor dark or olivey will i end up looking to pale or is my mom just trying to freak me out and keep me from doing it?
