How do I stop the 3 Pointer in NBA 2K7?

I play against my brother and friends and my brother always shoots the 3 and makes it. He uses the Mavericks so J-Kidd, Jet, Josh Howard, and Dirk can all hit 3's. The frustrating thing is that he can shoot from like almost half court and hit them. And the thing is, once he hits one, he hits like 10. So how do you stop the 3's?
